Krar - Egypt

Purchased in Abu Simbal, Egypt, 1988

From Graciela's Notes

This round snake skin lyre/Arabian Sitar has eight strings. It doesn’t have a bridge for the strings but does have one sound hole. To tune it is difficult as it doesn’t have any tuning pegs. Heard it played while watching some typical dances in Abu Simbal, Egypt, Africa in April 1988. We were visiting the ruins and the dam and were able to find one to buy.
