Luren

Purchased in Oslo, Norway, June 1966

From Graciela's Notes

The luren is a Norwegian instrument. It is a long wooden horn that is made of a hollowed - out piece of wood, around which are wound strips of birch bark. The Luren was used in order to call the cattle home from the pastures and also to frighten wild animals. I acquired the Luren (large and small sizes) during my trip to the Scandinavian countries in June1966. Bought it in Oslo, Norway.
