Mukkuri

Purchased in Angkor Wat, Cambodia, 1968 (Far right)

From Graciela's Notes

The Bamboo Jew’s Harp is most commonly found in the island of the Pacific Ocean. To play the jew’s harp you hold it up to your mouth and twang the bamboo tongue. To create the melody you change the shape of your mouth. The tongue vibrates against the mouth. The bamboo jew’s harp produces a quiet sound and if often used in courtship rituals.  I acquired this bamboo jew’s harp from a little man who was playing in among the ruins of the magnificent temples of Angkor Wat in Cambodia in December 1968.
