Practicum and Internship Requirements
School Psychology students take one semester of part-time practicum and two semesters of full-time internship, which consist of site-based field training in an educational setting or a child service center. Students participate in the various professional activities assigned to school psychology practitioners under the direction and supervision of qualified, on-site licensed professionals. Activities center around skill application working directly with children, adolescents, parents, and various school personnel. Placements are arranged and coordinated by school psychology faculty to provide experiences that meet the practicum and internship requirements of the Texas State Board of Examiners of Psychologists for licensure as a Licensed Specialist in School Psychology (LSSP).
