Mission
We at the
Community Counseling Service (CCS) are committed to
providing confidential, affordable counseling services
that emphasize solutions and strengths. The support
we offer may include helping you, your significant other
and your family function better at work or school. While
we often work with people who are experiencing a crisis,
our goal is to help you address concerns before they
develop into more serious problems. Counseling offers
you the opportunity to initiate positive changes in
yourself and in others that are realistic and achievable.
Commitment
to Training
The CCS is the primary training site for graduate and
doctoral counseling psychology trainees of Our Lady
of the Lake University. Services are offered by psychologists,
marriage and family therapists, professional counselors
and doctoral and master-level graduate students. All
supervisory staff are licensed by the State of Texas
and adhere to the strictest ethical and professional
standards. The primary training model that we use is
a team approach. You may have more than one counselor
working with you in counseling and a supervisor and
other trainees may be behind a one-way mirror. These
individuals work with you to provide creative, caring
solutions to your problems to better serve you as a
client.
Commitment
to Community
The Community Counseling Service is affiliated with
Our Lady of the Lake University (OLLU). Although we
provide counseling services to OLLU students, we are
primarily concerned with addressing the underserved
counseling needs of the Westside San Antonio community.
We provide counseling services to Spanish speaking as
well as English speaking clients. For immediate and
convenient accessibility, we provide services on a daily
walk-in basis.
Our
Service
Generally, people call the CCS to discuss their concerns
with an intake staff member and to identify the services
that might be appropriate for them. At this time, many
people decide to participate in individual, couple/marital,
family counseling or psychological testing. Once you
decide to employ our services, an affordable, sliding-scale
fee is negotiated based on your household income and
the number of people living in your home. An appointment
will then be set at a time that is convenient to you
and your counselors. Service to OLLU students is free
of charge. Your ability to pay will not be an obstacle
to obtaining counseling. The center is a Medicaid provider
and will assist you in filing your insurance claims.
The Community
Counseling Service is located in Suite 3 of the Holy
Cross Family Practice Association building at 590 North
General McMullen in San Antonio, TX. 78228. The CCS
shares a large comfortable waiting room with other service
providers in the building. Free parking is readily available
and the Center is conveniently located on a city bus
line (routes 79 & 524). Our building is barrier-free.
To talk to an intake assistant, call (210) 434-1054
between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Daytime,
evening, and Saturday appointments are available.
